Presentation Tool Kits

Phase two of CARE Center development at RML has provided outreach to those who do not use the library, have English as their second language, or have low-functioning literacy skills. The CARE Center is reaching these groups with "Presentation Tool Kits" specifically designed for each group.

CARE Center users can check out these kits and present a unit on any of several cancer information and awareness topics. The Center has kits to check out for adults, women only, teens, and people who primarily speak Spanish. The kits, purchased with a grant from the American Cancer Society, the Georgia Cancer Coalition, and the Georgia Department of Human Resources, have everything a presenter needs to create an informative and effective presentation.

The kits for teens and children contain information on tobacco education, nutrition, decision-making, and cancer screening. The information is presented through flip charts, videos, posters, handouts, visual aids, pamphlets, and educational games. Childhood presents an important opportunity, through health education in the schools, to teach healthy lifestyle habits. Any church or social group would benefit from this type of presentation.

The kits for women only have everything one needs to do a presentation on breast self-examination, PAP smears, and healthy lifestyles. Call the Roddenbery Memorial Library CARE Center for more information on these Presentation Tool Kits.
